Apprenticeship Pathway: Sophie Bowes

PAR Systems UK Commits to Young People Through Apprenticeships

Investing in Young Talent

At PAR Systems we are committed to investing in young people and providing them with opportunities for growth and development. By giving the young people of West Cumbria the chance to develop their skills through our Engineering apprenticeship programme, we are able to equip them with the skills and knowledge necessary for future employment opportunities. Our programme helps our local community whilst providing much needed source of skilled experience to young people.

We pride ourselves at PAR Systems not only on providing excellent apprenticeships, but also on providing younger learners a week of work experience. We host over 20 secondary school children per year, who take part in a variety of hands-on activities and gain valuable insight into what it’s like working at one of our sites.

Introducing Sophie Bowe

Sophie Bowe is a shining example of the power of apprenticeships and the incredible potential of young talent. She’s been with us at PAR Systems UK since September 2022, whilst completing the Maintenance Technician apprenticeship with the Innovation Engineering academy at Lakes College. She isn’t just learning how to be a Maintenance technician; she’s preparing for the workplace with the help of dedicated tutors at the Lakes College and the staff at PAR Systems who mentor her through her practical experience.

We’re proud that Sophie chose PAR Systems UK as her place to study and grow as an Engineer and know that many other students would benefit from an apprenticeship like hers.

Sophie is an extremely hands on learner who loves to get involved in all aspects of practical tasks, she applies herself extremely well and is extremely hard working, she is a very good addition to the PAR Systems UK Ltd team. Sophie is well on her way to complete her Apprenticeship by 2025. Once Sophie has passed she will have options to do further career development within her position as a Maintenance Technician at PAR as well as have the opportunity to do a Mechanical Design Engineering Degree if she chooses.

The Value of Apprenticeships

Sophie recognizes the immense value of apprenticeships, saying: “I would push anyone to do an apprenticeship because it really matures you and you know you’re getting a taste of the actual work environment and meeting new employers.” We couldn’t agree more!

Apprenticeships with PAR Systems can help you gain valuable experience and knowledge in engineering fields such as design, electrical or mechanical engineering. They also provide you with an opportunity to earn while learning on-the-job skills from experienced professionals who are willing to mentor you through your training period.
