Meet Katy Ridley, an inspiring apprentice at CORE Nuclear, currently completing her Level 3 Project Controls Technician apprenticeship in partnership with GEN2. Her role involves project planning, scheduling, cost and risk management and supplier coordination, with a focus on continuous learning and development.
We asked Katy about her time as a CORE Nuclear apprentice:
What is your favourite part of the job?
“My favourite part of my job is the team I work with at CORE and the support I receive from them, as well as the range of tasks that I work on as every day is different”.
What are the benefits of an apprenticeship?
“Getting hands-on experience and training in the workplace whilst completing your qualification, meaning you have the knowledge and skills to achieve your role”.
What has surprised you?
“It has surprised me how many opportunities I have had throughout my apprenticeship, not only have I been given the responsibility of leading multiple projects within my workplace, I have also received multiple training opportunities and been able to participate in many activities outside of the workplace such as careers fairs, charity events & awards nights”.
What are your future aspirations after completing your apprenticeship?
“To complete further training linked to project management (APM) and eventually progress to completing a project management degree”.
Katy has now transitioned into the role of Sub Project Manager here at CORE. We’re excited to support Katy on her journey and we look forward to seeing where her passion for project management will take her next!
