Lance Hetherington, our Design Engineering Manager is gearing up for the Great North Run on September 10th, and he’s running for a cause that’s close to his heart: Hospice at Home. This charity provides palliative care for people who are at the end of life and want to die outside of the hospital. They also offer respite to family members who are taking care of their terminally ill loved ones.
Unlike other hospice services in the county, Hospice at Home offers a 24/7 service that covers much of the county, from the Scottish border across from the West coast, across to Alston and down to Kirkby Stephen, then back across to Aspatria and Silloth. As a charity, the service they provide is directly impacted by the funds raised, which cover the salaries and expenses, including medication costs, needed to offer the service. Lance’s wife, Alison, leads the assessment and nursing teams for the service, working from their headquarters in Dalston.
Lance has set a target of £300 to raise for the charity, and he’s asking for your help. Lance is hoping to raise as much money as possible for this worthy cause. For a donation, you can sponsor a song that he will add to his running playlist for the day to do this you can contact lance through his email lhetherington@parsystems.co.uk (You can pick whatever you like, and he’ll listen to it!)
All donations are hugely appreciated, and every penny goes directly to Hospice at Home to help them continue to provide their vital service. With The Great North Run in just 11 weeks’ time, let’s show our support for Lance and Hospice at Home!
