Supporting the Future of Swimming at Copeland Amateur Swimming Club

CORE is proud to have supported Copeland Amateur Swimming Club in upgrading their swimming equipment, including replacing shallow end turning blocks and the timing board.

The club secured a grant of £14,365 from the UK Government via the Copeland Community fund.

A dedicated team of volunteers, including committee members and young swimmers, managed the project. CORE’s Mechanical Team Leader, Ray Payne, played a key role in guiding the volunteers through tasks like accurate measurements for the procurement and installation of the new equipment.

CORE’s apprentices also helped with the final adjustments at the Lillyhall facility, milling out the blocks and cleaning and applying a protective coating to ensure durability.

The club’s young swimmers raised over £700 by completing a sponsored 10k run, funding protective covers for the blocks.

The club had the honour of showcasing the completed upgrades to local MP Josh McAllister, who attended a training session and met Ray, members of the Copeland ASC Committee, volunteers, pool staff, and swimmers.

This project not only enhanced the club’s facilities but also gave young swimmers valuable experience that will benefit them in their future careers. CORE is proud to have played a part in this community-driven effort and looks forward to future collaborations.
